We only use equipment in safe ways, never positioning you or leveraging weights in a way that could hurt your joints. Our classes support not only strong bodies, but strong minds to help you feel your best. Our instructors are well-equipped to modify all of our classes for whatever your body is working through.

Our instructors go through an extensive anatomy-based training and certification for several weeks with our Senior Training Team before they work with clients. When our clients talk about DEFINE, we often hear them say “DEFINE changed my life.” or “DEFINE is my happy place.

About Yoga

The word yoga comes from Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language. It is a derivation of the word yuj, which means yoking, as in a team of oxen. In contemporary practice, this is often interpreted as meaning union.

Traditionally there are different types of yoga: Anusura Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, and Vinyasa Yoga. Several new versions have been promoted as yoga for weight loss and toning up like Power Yoga and Bikram Yoga. Each of the traditional variations of yoga has its own health benefits, all the while focusing on building your core, aiding weight loss, and connecting the mind with the body and spirit.

This is done through the performance of poses or postures, each of which has specific physical benefits. The poses can be done quickly in succession, creating heat in the body through movement (vinyasa-style yoga) or more slowly to increase stamina and perfect the alignment of the pose. The poses are a constant, but the approach to them varies depending on the yoga tradition in which the teacher has trained.
