A “Core Discovery” Yoga is a dynamic style that helps you tap into deeper parts of the body through different positions and poses. It will challenge your body to go beyond what you think was possible, with the awareness and activation of the CORE as the main goal for better alignment and breathing. Whether you’re looking for a dynamic or more gentle yet invigorating class, our Core Discovery Yoga classes are tailored to different paces and levels for you to choose from:

POWER FLOW – In this class, you’ll power through an energizing flow of Asanas [poses] that will challenge your every atom to build deep strength, power and flexibility.

HATHA CORE YOGA 101 – This class is designed to teach you how to build a solid and stable foundation through core stability and flexibility work with mindfulness. Learn how to start flowing into Sun salutation and warrior poses, with the right breathing technique. A perfect class to integrate and complement your “days off” from your exercise schedule.

YOGA STRETCH AND MEDITATION – Unwind the body and mind after a long week of constant external stimulation and tension. Class flows at a therapeutic slow pace with stretching, twisting, deep breathing exercises and end with a light mediation.

The word yoga comes from Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language. It is a derivation of the word yuj, which means yoking, as in a team of oxen. In contemporary practice, this is often interpreted as meaning union.

Traditionally there are different types of yoga: Anusura Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, and Vinyasa Yoga. Several new versions have been promoted as yoga for weight loss and toning up like Power Yoga and Bikram Yoga. Each of the traditional variations of yoga has its own health benefits, all the while focusing on building your core, aiding weight loss, and connecting the mind with the body and spirit.

This is done through the performance of poses or postures, each of which has specific physical benefits. The poses can be done quickly in succession, creating heat in the body through movement (vinyasa-style yoga) or more slowly to increase stamina and perfect the alignment of the pose. The poses are a constant, but the approach to them varies depending on the yoga tradition in which the teacher has trained.
